CREATIVE COMMUNICATIONS CONSULTANT
Intro
Hello! I’m Hope and I am a freelance Creative Communications Consultant. I bring with me over six years worth of experience in marketing and publicity within publishing and my work has brought me to prestigious literary imprints such as Vintage and Picador, bold independent publishers like Bonnier Books UK and Profile Books, and award-winning books PR agency, FMcM.
Work
Supported by my broad and diverse tastes, I craft narratives around books and their authors that help me to build bespoke and creative campaigns for clients.
From launching debut authors like Julia May Jonas, relaunching literary household names such as Jamaica Kincaid and bringing conversation starting non-fiction to the fore, I am a thorough and tenacious publicist who deploys sensitive and expert author care.
I always approach both traditional media contacts as well as always seeking out non-traditional contacts who are keen to support literature and the arts which ensures that clients and their work can be seen by the widest possible audience and I create exciting event opportunities that involve working with arts institutions, bookshops and creative initiatives.
Within marketing, I enjoy being close to the ground – talking to and hearing from readers and non-readers, chatting to booksellers and following trends and current conversations which help me build considered and engaging marketing campaigns across social media and partnerships. In my career, I have worked with the likes of Bad Form, Black Ballad UK, Dark Matter Marketing Agency, Worms Magazine, the Barbican Centre, Queer Britain and others to deliver impactful and innovative partnerships that serve readers first and support all collaborators involved.
Here are some of the books I have worked on below:
Work
In addition to book campaigns, I have experience in delivering 360 campaigns for literary prizes such as the Charlotte Aitken Sunday Times Young Writer Award, Cundill History Prize and Polari Prizes.
I also partake in speaking engagements including panels at the Coast is Queer Festival, Tagore’s Salon, the Wilbur Niso Foundation, University of the Arts London and hosting author conversations in bookshops such as Daunt Books.
Outside of this, I am a trustee at And Other Stories, curate South by Words and a writer.
