WORK EXPERIENCE

Curator, South by Words
(February 2025 – Present)

Conceptualised by myself in autumn last year, I have started a south London literary salon with other publishing peers that seeks to celebrate the art of spoken word and the power of language but with an interdisciplinary approach. We are seeking to champion writers, poets, artists and thinkers who engage with the written form and invite them to read and perform for audiences in south London.

Trustee, And Other Stories
(May 2024 – Present)

I currently sit on the advisory board for And Other Stories where I offer support to the publishing house on their strategy and growth as well as working with fellow trustees in a focus group that examines the financial health of the business.

Senior Publicity Manager, Bonnier Books – Literary
(February 2025 – October 2025)

Working across Bonnier’s literary imprints, including Footnote Press, Manilla Press and Ithaka Press, I crafted and implemented boundary pushing campaigns for high profile authors and debut writers. I hit the ground running in this role, rising to the occasion with titles such as How to Save the Amazon by Dom Phillips (Ithaka) which involved publishing a book completed posthumously and engaging with a large number of stakeholders with a vested interest in this book due to its sensitive nature. I have also managed the paperback publication of Yasmin Zaher’s The Coin (Footnote), working with the publishing team to continue engineering the word-of-mouth success for the book and stewarding the book to success as it’s recently won the Dylan Thomas Prize.

As well as running campaigns, I was shaping the literary strategy at Bonnier alongside our Head of Marketing and the editors commissioning in this space. This involved working with teams such as Sales, Marketing and Editorial to develop critical paths that best service our publishing in order to launch books with maximum success and informing those teams of ideas and thinking to bring Bonnier’s literary nous on par with the likes of competitors.

Communications Manager, FMcM
(June 2023 – February 2025)

As Communications Manager at FMcM Associates, I created and ran outstanding quality campaigns for clients such as Jamaica Kincaid (FSG), Kirsty Sedgman (Faber & Faber), Conn Iggulden (Penguin Michael Joseph), Helen Russell (4th Estate) and Kathryn Hughes (4th Estate) as well as prizes such as the Sunday Times Charlotte Aitken Young Writer of the Year Award, the Polari Prizes and the international Cundill History Prize. As well as campaign delivery, I worked closely with our Marketing Director to revitalise FMcM’s image and presence online, working across the website, Instagram, TikTok and X to showcase who we are and attract new business.

Senior Communications Executive, Picador and Macmillan Collector’s Library
(January 2021 - June 2023)

As Senior Communications Executive at Picador, I ran effective and fully integrated publicity and marketing campaigns for highly acclaimed and prize-winning authors such as Jamaica Kincaid, Julia May Jonas, Maddie Mortimer, Imogen Binnie, Jenny Kleeman, Graeme Armstrong and others across all media platforms, including influencer and press campaigns, partnerships and events. I also managed the monthly partnerships meeting, supporting the wider department in the successful running of partnerships and assisting our Communications Director with searching for new collaborators to help bring our books closer to readers.

At Pan Macmillan, I was also co-chair of RISE, the employee network for people of colour. During my tenure, I successfully ran monthly meetings with my co-chair for the group, liaised with key stakeholders within the Executive team in order to execute ideas discussed with the group and fed into wider organisational projects to ensure that all initiatives and actions from RISE meetings were being seen to by senior management. I also curated well attended events for all Pan Macmillan staff such as a panel on Black women in publishing featuring individuals like Sofia Akel and Lemara Lindsay-Prince and collaborated with the PRIDE network for IWD on a women in publishing event featuring female leaders, queer women in publishing and young trailblazers.

Publicity Assistant, Vintage
(January 2020 – January 2021)

As Publicity Assistant at Vintage Books, I provided high levels of support for senior publicists with their campaigns, including authors such as Ruth Ware, Abir Mukherjee, Daisy Johnson, Merlin Sheldrake and Nigella Lawson. I then ran my own campaigns for authors such as Lucasta Miller and the comic artist, Allie Brosh.

I developed my marketing expertise with the Vintage Brand team who I worked with to create a Black History Month partnership with Black Ballad where we spotlighted Black creatives in publishing and black-owned bookshops across our channels.

I also created and managed the departmental staff newsletter which I launched and I assisted the Vintage Brand team by looking after major platforms such as Instagram (210K+ followers), Twitter (117K+ followers) and running the Vintage Women Book Club (2.2K and growing).

I also researched and recruited social media influencers to help spread the word about upcoming and existing books, effectively building word of mouth campaigns for titles across fiction and non-fiction such as Topics of Conversation by Miranda Popkey and Wayward Lives, Beautiful Experiments by Saidiya Hartman.
